Level 1
Class Description: This positive method will enable you to teach your dog good dog manners and learn how to use everyday resources that your dog values for rewards. By using a marker (either a mechanical clicker or single syllable word) your dog will quickly learn to give you good behaviors to earn a reward of praise, petting, playing with you, or their daily meals (food).
Behaviors taught in class will be getting your dog's attention, having your dog walk calmly beside you, going to a place or mat, and the basic obedience skills of sit, down, come and stay.
The training skills introduced will be how to identify and get desired dog behaviors, and how to name or cue a behavior. This class is suitable for puppies as young as 14 weeks of age as well as older dogs without previous formal training. The class lasts one hour per week for 9 weeks.
